Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the incumbent is responsible for processing all payables and receivables and associated monthly accounting functions for CMHA HPE. The incumbent is responsible for processing accounts receivable and accounts payable, assisting in report development, account monitoring, internal and external mail flow, and monitoring office supply inventory for the Finance team. As a member of the Finance Team, the AP/AR Administrator will be responsible for providing back-up for other team members, as required. All services are provided in accordance with the mission and established protocols of CMHA HPE.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable roles, preferably within a not-for profit or similar environment.

  • Ability to work in accordance with strict government deadlines, Community Financial Policy, as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OHRS/MIS Guidelines and functional centres.

  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable and maintaining general ledgers.

  • Working knowledge of the Community Financial Policy of the South East LHIN.

  • Firm understanding of the accounting cycle.

  • Experience with financial reporting, reconciliation, and preparing budgets.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting audits and preparing audit documentation is an asset.

  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements applicable to not-for-profit organizations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills with demonstrated ability to deal appropriately with sensitive situations and confidential information.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent organizational/prioritization skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and observe deadlines.

  • Ability to compile, prepare, and maintain detailed records and reports accurately and efficiently.

  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proficiency in accounting software.

  • Ability to prepare bank deposits and reconcile bank statements.

  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License, regular access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of adequate vehicle insurance for travel between agency sites and community meetings.

  • Satisfactory criminal record check required prior to hire.
