The Contribution You Will Bring to This Role The electrical engineer will ensure customer‑specific electrical requirements are met to international standards and of the highest quality. This office‑based role provides hands‑on support for the production team and supports the sales team with electrical/technical queries. From time to time, the engineer may attend customer meetings and support business activities focusing on cost savings and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
Interpret and develop client’s standards and technical specifications to enable the sales team to offer the best solutions to the customer.
Conduct safety walk‑throughs at customer facilities, identifying hazards, compliance gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure that the design output complies with client specifications.
Complete datasheets for electrical/instrumentation devices and equipment.
Review and approve sub‑vendor/sub‑supplier technical quotations (tender package) and evaluate them against project requirements and client specifications.
Transfer electrical designs to 2D CAD drawings, submit completed drawings to the documentation controllers, review returned customer comments, and make the relevant amendments.
Provide support to the sales team when quoting and finalising orders.
Support the documentation team when resolving technical queries that arise for the approval process with the end user.
Work closely with the production team and the purchasing department, providing proactive support during procurement and manufacturing stages of an order.
Drive MUV initiatives around cost‑down exercises for electrical equipment and proactively challenge the norm to seek innovative solutions.
Deliver innovative solutions to keep product ranges at the forefront of the market.
Basic Qualifications
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g., CEng Mechanical Engineering).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Electrical Engineering role and engineering/manufacturing.
Experience in a high‑variation, low‑volume manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Knowledge of different LV voltage levels / power supplies (3‑Phase and Single Phase).
Knowledge of industrial standards such as BS 7671, ATEX and IEC‑60079‑14.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to read and understand electrical schematic diagrams and electrical circuits’ control philosophies.
Recognition of major devices and their functions in schematic diagrams (fuses, circuit breakers, contactors, switches, etc.).
Selection of proper electrical and instrumentation cables and cable glands; familiarity with different cable types and manufacturers.
Familiarity with change‑over contacts (SPDT, DPDT) in instrument devices and control systems.
Experience with PLC devices, earthing systems, electrical trace tape heating systems, immersion heating systems, and field instruments (switches, temperature sensors, transmitters).
Knowledge of ATEX directives and ATEX marking for hazardous area applications.
Knowledge of ATS, IECEX and North American explosion atmosphere markings.
Global marking and approval of electrical equipment.
Aware of SAS technology, ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001.
Experience with SAGE 200 ERP or similar.
