Director - HV Cable System Design

Responsibilities
Lead design delivery for Cable System Projects up to 400kV from tendering to handover.
Develop HV/EHV cabling system specifications, concepts, detailed designs and conduct design reviews.
Provide technical support on all aspects of HV cable system engineering.
Prepare plant and equipment technical specifications, power cable route specs, tender specs, and progress reports.
Ensure accurate interface with other engineering functions and conduct internal and external meetings.
Perform technical calculations (cable sizing, rating, TMF/EMF, sheath induced voltage).
Validate design and ensure compliance with CDM regulations, legislation and company procedures.
Assist with temporary works design schemes and maintain client, designer, team relationships.
Ensure drawings and specifications contain sufficient, accurate information and request missing data timely.
Complete inspection and test plans per PMP / Specification, including dimension accuracy checks.
Support factory inspections (FAT) and promote best safety, health, and environmental practices with SHQE.
Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for work control.
Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering.
Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, or utility in the energy sector.
Extensive experience supporting FEED and detailed design in cable‑related roles.
Ability to manage and lead HV/EHV cable designs at all project stages.
Experienced user of CYMCAP for cable system design.
Experience working at EHV transmission voltages and in both HVAC and HVDC systems.
Familiarity with National Grid and DNO standards and processes.
Working authority as CDAE and TP141 authorised.
