About The Role:

We are seeking four (4) experienced Project Managers to join our client's team in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, supporting the execution of the 2026 Generation Capital Program (Regulated Hydraulic and Thermal Generation) and the 2026 Exploits Generation Capital Program (Non-Regulated). This includes: three (3) Project Managers with a Civil or Mechanical Engineering background, and one (1) Project Manager with an Electrical Engineering background. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.

The successful candidates will work as part of the Project Execution Department, reporting to the Generation/Exploits Program Manager – Project Execution. They will provide strategic guidance and direction to ensure projects are delivered safely, on-time, and on-budget, while collaborating extensively with Regional Operations, Project Engineers, Safety Advisors, Environmental Services Coordinators, Consultants, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project scope statements and work plans.
  • Set up project work orders and develop realistic schedules with the project team.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes of work.
  • Lead Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives and promote a culture of continual improvement.
  • Monitor all aspects of projects to ensure compliance with schedule, budget, and scope.
  • Evaluate and manage project change requests, communicating impacts to stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage project risk registers and issue logs.
  • Identify issues and implement timely interventions or escalate as required.
  • Ensure contractual obligations and agreements are fully respected.
  • Determine project insurance requirements and liaise with Risk/Insurance teams.
  • Oversee project commissioning and ensure successful completion.
  • Prepare monthly capital reports and accruals.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned sessions.
  • Maintain regular communication with Operations and project stakeholders.

Education and Experience Required

  • Degree or technologist qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in project management.
  • Extensive experience managing project budgets, schedules, and risks in a utility capital project environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project management processes, planning, scheduling, and team leadership.
  • Proficiency with Primavera and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience leading project teams, managing contractors, promoting safety culture, and adhering to industry standards.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current construction techniques, labor, equipment, and material trends is an asset.

Please note that you may be required to work in an industrial environment, requiring hands-on field supervision. This may include working at heights, dirty/dusty and noisy environments, and confined spaces. All personal protective equipment and site-specific training will be provided.
