- Conduct patient assessments to evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address communication and swallowing disorders
- Provide therapy services to patients with various conditions, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurological disorders
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Educate patients and their families on communication strategies and techniques to improve functional communication and swallowing abilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment outcomes
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state license or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to speech, language, and swallowing disorders
- Experience in critical care or acute care settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
