This is an opportunity to lead at the frontier of pediatric healthcare research. As the Manager of the Cloud Solutions Team, you are a visionary leader responsible for architecting and executing the cloud strategy that powers life-saving discoveries. You will guide a brilliant team in building a world-class AWS ecosystem, including a secure, large-scale research data lake that unifies clinical, genomic, and imaging data. Your leadership will directly enable our scientists to leverage AI and big data, ensuring our cloud infrastructure meets the highest standards of security, scalability, and innovation to accelerate breakthroughs for children’s health.
*What you’ll do*
* *Lead & Mentor a World-Class Team* – Lead, mentor, and empower a high-performing team of DevOps and Data Engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence, delegating tasks effectively to ensure the team is productive and successful.
* *Architect the Future of Research* – Set the strategic vision and technical roadmap for a secure, scalable AWS research ecosystem. Drive the architectural design of a cutting-edge data lake and a secure research environment, ensuring they meet the complex needs of our scientists.
* *Drive End-to-End Project Delivery* – Implement and manage robust project plans from conception to completion. Oversee the delivery of cloud solutions that support high-impact data science and translational research projects, ensuring they are aligned with institutional goals and timelines.
* *Champion Security & Compliance* – Serve as the ultimate owner for the security and compliance of the research cloud environment. Ensure all platforms and processes adhere to the highest standards, including NIST SP 800-171, and cultivate a security-first mindset within your team.
* *Build Bridges & Foster Collaboration* – Foster deep, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across IT, infrastructure, security, and research teams. Serve as the primary technical liaison, translating complex concepts and presenting progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
* *AWS platform engineering* – Architect, build, and operate scalable, cost-efficient cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on serverless and containerized services (Lambda, Fargate, ECS, Docker). Continuously monitor usage and recommend optimizations to reduce spend without compromising performance.
*What you bring*
_*Education & experience*_
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* 10+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or a related technical field, with at least 5 years in a direct leadership or management role.
_*Leadership & Strategic Vision*_
* A proven ability to develop and execute a strategic technical vision, driving organizational growth and team development.
* An expert-level project manager with a strong track record of overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects.
* Demonstrated success in building, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineering teams.
_*Technical Chops*_
* Deep, hands-on expertise in AWS architecture, security best practices, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC). A solid background in DevOps engineering is essential.
* Extensive experience architecting and delivering large-scale data systems, including data lakes that integrate complex data types (e.g., EHR, genomics, imaging).
* Highest levels of AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) are strongly preferred.

* Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
