The Network Analyst II plays a key role in supporting and maintaining network infrastructure for Pinnacle IT and its managed services clients. This includes configuring, installing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing networks across various client environments – ranging from small office LANs to multi-site, cloud-integrated business networks. This position requires strong analytical skills, hands-on networking knowledge, and the ability to interpret performance metrics, logs, and alerts to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.
*Primary Job Duties:*
· Assist in implementing network changes, expansions, and migrations for client projects.
· Support the configuration and administration of firewalls, routers, switches, wireless APs, and VPNs.
· Respond to alerts and resolve network incidents or escalations in a timely manner.
· Perform routine maintenance and updates on network devices (firmware, patches, configuration backups).
· Monitor performance of client and internal networks using tools such as FortiCloud, Auvik, or similar tools.
· Identify bottlenecks, failures, and security issues through analysis of logs, SNMP traps, NetFlow data, and performance metrics.
· Work with security teams to detect and mitigate network threats (e.g., DDoS, unauthorized access, or misconfigurations).
· Ensure network segmentation, VLANs, ACLs, and security policies are correctly enforced across environments.
· Document and maintain compliance with best practices, policies, and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, CIS Controls).
· Provide support for network-related service tickets and client escalations.
· Troubleshoot latency, throughput, DNS, DHCP, and wireless connectivity issues.
· Liaise with ISPs and external vendors to resolve service outages and circuit issues.
· Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configuration documentation, and device inventories in systems like IT Boost.
· Help maintain overall board hygiene by addressing stale or overdue tickets.
· Assist in generating uptime and performance reports for internal and client review.
· Ability to work outside of normal business hours.
· Track changes and incidents using PSA and ITSM tools (e.g., ConnectWise).
*Experience & Skills Required:*
· 1–3 years of experience with business networking technologies.
· Experience in IT support or field service technician roles.
· Basic understanding of:
o Networking concepts (OSI model, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP) (Analyst I).
o Monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) to observe alerts and status (Analyst I).
o Basic hardware (patch panels, cabling, network printers) (Analyst I).
o Firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, SonicWall, or Meraki), load balancers, and SD-WAN platforms (Analyst I).
· Strong understanding of:
o TCP/IP, routing/switching protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi technologies (Analyst II).
o Proficient in intermediate to advanced protocols (BGP, OSPF, STP) (Analyst II).
o Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Fortinet, or similar hardware (Analyst II).
o Familiar with scripting/network automation tools (Analyst II).
o Familiarity with tools such as Wireshark, RADIUS, SNMP, and NetFlow (Analyst II).
· Excellent attention to detail as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
· Detail-oriented with excellent documentation practices.
· Reliable, honest, and timely.
· Strong ability to communicate complex instructions verbally.
· Prior experience in an MSP environment is preferred.
*Education*
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
· 3+ years of hands-on experience in network analysis, support, or engineering—preferably within an MSP or IT services environment.
· *Certifications*:
o Required: HIPAA Security Training or willingness to complete upon hire.
o Preferred: CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet NSE, Aruba, or Meraki.
*Physical Requirements:*
This position requires the ability to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
· Occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces, such as under desks or in server rooms, to perform installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

*Other Expectations:*
· Must be logged in to your workstation and ready to work by the beginning of your shift (e.g., 8:00 AM).
· Must possess and maintain a valid Arkansas driver’s license and present it upon request when performing job duties which require operating a vehicle.
· Must have reliable transportation.
· Work schedule flexibility required as needed.
· Occasional lifting or moving equipment (PCs, monitors, etc.).
· Travel may be required for client engagements, emergencies, or project support.
