The position is in a NJ State approved private school for students with disabilities. The candidate would be working collaboratively with a team of 10 physical therapists, 10 occupational therapists, and 11 speech therapists. It is an 11 month position with school calendar and school hours 8:30 am - 3:30 pm). Must have NJDOE School Physical Therapist Certification and a NJ license. Exp. working with school aged students with disabilities preferred.
· Plan and implement appropriate treatment program for students.
· To provide treatment and activities to facilitate normal movement patterns, prevent deformities, increase range of motion, improve function as well as to help the child adjust or compensate for loss of function.
· Provide assistance in learning to use devices designed to improve or substitute for motor function and designing or making adapted equipment.
· Maintain on a regular basis, written records of students’ progress, program content, and recommendations
· Participate in the development of Individualized Educational Programs of all school age students.
· Attend orthopedic clinics when requested.
· To instruct parents in appropriate therapeutic techniques to be used in the home when requested.
· Provide treatment within the classrooms and to explain and demonstrate treatment goals to educational personnel.
· Make home or in-school visitations when appropriate.
· Carry out any other professional responsibilities deemed appropriate by the Director or his/her designee.
· Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and assignments
· Demonstrate a compassionate attitude toward exceptional needs students
· Respect and understand confidentiality issues.
· Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
· Deal with usual and unusual situations involving emotionally and physically handicapped students.
· Regularly required to work in an environment for training/teaching emotionally and physically handicapped students, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, bend at the waist, stoop, kneel, or crouch, lift and or move more than 30 pounds, use classroom equipment/materials, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate in person or over the telephone.
· Ability to lift, transfer, move and handle students.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $77,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
