* 56 % of licensed technicians said their number one concern was compensation. At GBVH, you will have the potential to earn a more than livable wage and a number of benefits based on the number of hours you work. We offer a very competitive employment and benefits package. All of our full-time nurses (LVTs) are paid on salary and not hourly. Our part time nurses are paid a competitive hourly salary.
* 51% of licensed veterinary technicians expressed concern for the high number of colleagues facing compassion fatigue and burn out. We are a hospital that thrives on balance. * 39% of licensed veterinary technicians were concerned about the high volume of patients. At GBVH, we practice QUALITY over quantity. We are a 5 doctor practice, with no more than 3 doctors seeing appointments per shift and 1 doctor performing surgery per shift. We have systems in place that allow our team to cater to each pet or client’s needs. We don’t, typically, see emergencies or walk-in appointments. And we use our nurses to help triage and guide the flow of the urgent appointments.
General Booth Veterinary Hospital is an independently owned, AAHA accredited practice that has been serving Virginia Beach for over 30 years. We have a newly renovated building and were recently voted one of America’s Top 500 Animal Hospitals by Newsweek magazine for 2025. All of our DVM’s and Nurses have been with the practice for 5+ years. We are a practice that thrives on staying current and we are not afraid to change, if the veterinary field requires change. We try to stay progressive and current with our approach to maintaining a healthy practice culture, in addition to the medicine we offer.
