About the role

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Engineering Manager to lead and guide multiple product engineering teams working on software applications and services in the areas of Risk Management, Trading and Tokenization. This is a critical role in driving technical excellence, enhancing team performance and fostering the personal growth of the team members through servant leadership.

As a Senior Engineer Manager, you will balance your time between deep technical engagements and empowering your teams to deliver exceptional results. In this role, you will have line management responsibilities for 3 to 5 Tech Leads.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor tech leads and their teams, fostering a culture of high performance, quality and execution.
  • Set clear expectations and goals for tech leads and their teams, regularly providing constructive feedback.
  • Provide guidance on architecture decisions, code quality and software design that results in better quality, security, scalability and resilience.
  • Work with Tech Leads to define and drive the technical roadmap in alignment with Sygnum’s strategic objectives.
  • Partner with product and design leaders to develop and execute a cohesive product and technical strategy.
  • Champion a customer-first approach, ensuring that engineering efforts are aligned with user needs and company goals.
  • Promote a psychologically safe space where everyone feels they can contribute to improving things.

What we expect:

  • Good understanding of several agile and product delivery methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, Shape up, Dual Track agile.
  • Experience setting up quarterly OKRs for product engineering teams.
  • Experience coaching 2-5 engineering teams with proven results on performance improvements.
  • Previous experience as Tech Lead developing applications with microservices/event driven architecture using some of the following technologies/frameworks:
    • Quarkus/Spring (Java).
    • NestJS (Typescript).
    • Kafka.
    • PostgreSQL.
    • Redis.
    • React.
    • AWS.
  • Great understanding of the full development lifecycle and its technologies – Git, CI/CD tools, testing, vulnerability management, release management, observability, incident management.
  • Previous experience in Crypto, and Banking (Trading, Core Banking Systems, Risk Management …).
