*JOB DESCRIPTION *
*Summary *
The Physical Therapist will provide physical rehabilitation and treatment to Pope's Place medically complex residents in accordance with the physician’s plan of care, and in compliance with practice standards and all applicable licensure requirements. Leads through the principles of high reliability. Provides individualized treatment plans and treats residents using a variety of methods such as hands-on therapy, aquatic therapy, and durable medical equipment. Advises and educates nursing team, residents and their families as needed. Works collaboratively with nursing team, medical providers, case managers, and other medical professionals. Provides clinical supervision of Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) and Rehab Technician.
*Essential Functions: *
* Develop resident individualized Physical Therapy plan of care in consultation with medical and nursing team members; outline goals and expected outcomes.
* Assure continuation of plan with evaluation, modifications; complete reassessment and reevaluation; attend therapy related appointments as needed.
* Perform manual exercises, maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and aquatic therapy as clinically indicated to increase mobility and facilitate wellness
* Document in electronic medical record.
* Provide clinical supervision of the PTA and Rehab Technician.
* Communicate, instruct, and educate residents families and nursing caregivers as needed.
* Assist the residents in achieving treatment; instruct, encourage, and assist residents in performing physical activities and proper use of durable medical equipment.
* Facilitate durable medical equipment ordering and management; ensure functionality of equipment with preventative maintenance; work with vendors as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Skills and Abilities *
* Problem solving; ability to evaluate conditions accurately and conduct research as needed.
* Analytical skills; ability to assess changes in resident’s status; determine when to make adjustments or referrals.
* Physical Stamina; ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time while demonstrating exercises.
* Manual Dexterity; ability to use hands to provide manual therapy, massage, or otherwise physically assist residents, regular and predictable attendance.
* Detail oriented and organized; ability to effectively manage time and multiple residents to provide adequate service.
* Communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively in order to understand concerns, assess conditions, and explain instructions. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
* Compassion; ability to convey empathy when working with residents and families under stress.
* Leads through the principles of high reliability.
* Ability to adhere to organization’s policies, procedures, infection prevention, safety, confidentiality policies and procedures; HIPAA and all state and federal medical privacy laws.
* Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and respect to community members from multiple cultures, and to individuals who experience disabilities.
*Required Qualifications *
* Masters Degree from from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
* Current Physical Therapy License valid in the State of Washington
* One (1) year experienc working with children.
* Must pass a State and Federal Background Check, including fingerprints
* Valid State Driver’s License
* Must maintain current vehicle insurance
* Proof of licensing required vaccinations
* Current Healthcare CPR/BLS
* Current Food Handler’s Permit
* Abuse Prevention Systems Sexual Abuse Awareness Training within 90 days of hire
* Behavior Managment within 60 days of hire
* DDA Developmental Disabilities Specialty Training within 90 days of hire
* Must acquire and provide proof of 30 hours of CEU’s per year
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Doctorate Degree from a program accredited by CAPTE
* One (1) year experience working with children with disabilities.
* Completion of a one (1) year clinical residency specializing in pediatric physical therapy.
*Work Environment *
Pope’s Place is licensed as a home health agency with licensed group homes. This position is inclusive of all resident care programs and homes of Pope’s Place. The position requires flexibility as hours of work are subject to resident and operational needs. The environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other potential hazards.
*Physical Demands *
This position requires full range of motion and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to walk, bend, stretch, lift and stand. The position may require lifting and moving residents. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and use proper lifting techniques at all times; pursue assistance with lifting as needed. Must be able to pass a random drug screen.
*Travel*
Out of town travel is not required for this position.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $41.23 - $65.72 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 24 per week
