We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in LTC pharmacy, critical care, and hospital settings, with a strong focus on patient-centered care and medication management. This leadership role requires a licensed pharmacist capable of overseeing daily pharmacy functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining high-quality patient services. The Pharmacist in Charge will play a vital role in clinical decision-making, inventory oversight, and team coordination to support optimal health outcomes.
*Responsibilities*
* Oversee all pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, compounding medications, and inventory management
* Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
* Lead patient assessments and provide clinical pharmacy services tailored to diverse populations such as pediatrics, acute care, and pain management
* Manage pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and ensure accurate documentation of patient care activities
* Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff, providing training on pharmacy procedures and medication safety protocols
* Facilitate immunizations, IV infusions, aseptic techniques, and medication administration procedures
* Collaborate with medical teams to develop and implement medication therapy plans and medical management strategies
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology to support clinical decisions
* Conduct patient service activities including counseling on medication use and addressing patient inquiries
* Ensure proper handling of IV insertion procedures and aseptic techniques for compounded medications
* Monitor medication inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking while ensuring safety standards are met
*Requirements*
* Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the state of practice
* Extensive experience in LTC pharmacy, critical care environments, or hospital settings; residency or fellowship training preferred
* Proven clinical pharmacy experience with proficiency in patient assessment and medical management
* Familiarity with pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and inventory management tools
* Knowledge of immunizations, IV infusion techniques, aseptic procedures, and medication administration protocols
* Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pain management strategies
* Experience with compounding medications and handling sterile preparations
* Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety
* Prior pharmacy technician supervision experience is advantageous
* Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and interdisciplinary collaboration
