Position Summary :

The Admitting Clerk, Outpatient Booking performs documentation/clerical duties to facilitate complete and accurate booking of patient appointments in a timely, caring and confidential manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage high volume bookings of elective outpatient appointments for specific departments through Cerner Scheduling as appropriate via telephone, faxing and Ocean mediums
  • Manage Endoscopy block surgical bookings following approved guidelines and processes
  • Pre-registration of patients as per protocol through Novari and Cerner
  • Receive and transfer calls to other departments as appropriate
  • Relay appropriate information regarding test preparation/instructions
  • Transcribe accurate scheduling notes/instructions for medical, technical and clerical staff reference
  • Responsible for distribution of WRHN's booking requisitions to physicians' offices
  • Deliver booked requisitions to appropriate departments within WRHN
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
  • Successful completion of a formal medical terminology program
  • Keyboard at 60wpm plus experience with Cerner and Novari Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work and function efficiently under stressful situations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Must have a pleasant and professional telephone manner
  • Positive work record; good attendance is essential
