Role Description

We're hiring a precise and reliable Food Quality Inspector to integrate into our assurance team at a federally approved meat production site. This position is vital for making sure every product complies with governmental rules, buyer expectations, and our own quality and safety measures. It helps maintain consistent alignment with guidelines from bodies such as the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) or USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), varying by region.

  • Main Tasks
  • Execute standard evaluations of meat products on the assembly line to verify they align with legal, client, and company benchmarks.
  • Supervise and validate essential control points (CCPs) as specified in HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) systems.
  • Perform checks on cleanliness prior to and amid production activities.
  • Compile and log quality indicators (like temps, measurements, sight inspections, and container wholeness).
  • Check the precision of item tags and wrappers, including allergen oversight and best-before dates.
  • Assure correct treatment and warehousing of inputs and end products.
  • Carry out elementary surface sampling.
  • Detect and alert the assurance group and overseers to any variances or issues.
  • Engage in internal reviews and aid with outside and official assessments (e.g., CFIA, USDA, BRC, SQF).
  • Sustain exact and timely logs of all evaluations and observations.
  • Deliver input and aid to assembly workers to encourage quality mindfulness and steady progress.
  • Support in probing buyer issues and enacting remedies.
  • Comply with firm directives on food protection, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and occupational wellness & security.

  • Features a cool and moist atmosphere.
  • Could involve variable scheduling, encompassing weekends and festive days.
  • Initial timing might be: Day shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).

Prerequisites

  • High school certificate or comparable; further education in Food Studies, Assurance Practices, or akin discipline is advantageous.
  • Earlier involvement in food fabrication or meat operations (desirable).
  • Acquaintance with HACCP, GMP.
  • Sharp eye for minutiae and strong perceptive capabilities.
  • Aptitude to function in a rapid, chilly setting.
  • Proficient oral and textual interaction abilities.
  • Elementary digital skills (Microsoft suite, info logging).
  • Competence to perform autonomously or within a group.
  • Speakers of Mandarin/Cantonese are essential.
  • Required to be lawfully permitted for employment in Canada.
