About the Role
The Design Engineering Summer Internship offers a 3-month immersive design experience. This program allows participants to step away from their academic studies and engage in real-world engineering challenges directly tied to the company's strategic objectives.
Located at Watlow's technical development center (TDC) and manufacturing center of excellence (MCOE) in Winona, Minnesota, participants will work on impactful projects in design and development of products within our Industrial Control Systems division. They will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world design projects while collaborating closely with mentors and experienced engineers.
Design Engineering Interns will support some or all of the following as related to their engineering major/discipline and internship projects:
Design and development of new products or redesigns of existing products (i.e. controllers, sensors, control systems).
Conduct experiments to aid design.
Investigate paths to utilize automation to reduce development time.
Build prototypes and participate in prototype design reviews.
Complete reliability, experimental, and validation testing and evaluate results for new or existing products.
Evaluate products for functionality enhancements and/or cost improvements.
Work within a cross-functional team to gain exposure to other design engineering disciplines, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or electrical engineering.
Completed a minimum of two years of a bachelor's degree program in one of the above engineering majors.
Available to work full-time in Summer 2026 in Watlow's Winona, MN, location.
