About the Role

We are seeking a Computer Technician / Telecommunications Support Specialist to provide full-time on-site IT support for the 99th Force Support Squadron – Education & Training Section (E&TS) at Nellis Air Force Base. This role supports one of the Air Force's largest education and training missions, ensuring smooth operation of classrooms, computer labs, testing centers, and office technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily support for computers, servers, printers, routers, switches, telecommunication systems, and peripherals.
• Serve as Information Technology Asset Manager (ITAM) – maintain accountability and inventory of IT equipment, coordinate upgrades and disposals.
• Act as Information Assurance Officer (IAO) – interface with AFNET Enterprise Service Desk on security, software, and compliance matters.
• Maintain and support network connectivity (LAN, commercial internet, QoLnet).
• Safeguard sensitive data, run weekly virus scans, and ensure system security in line with Air Force IT regulations.
• Train users on software tools, security practices, and IT systems.
• Provide website support for the Nellis AFB Education & Training webpage (updates, layouts, links).
• Research, recommend, and help implement future IT system improvements.

Qualifications (Required)

• CompTIA Security+ certification (must be maintained throughout employment).
• 2+ years of experience in computer hardware/software support.
• 1+ year of related professional or volunteer IT experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
• Knowledge of Air Force or DoD computer/network security regulations (preferred).

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC); background check required.
• Ability to work onsite Monday–Friday, 0730–1630 (federal holidays off).
• Must comply with OSHA safety standards, OPSEC, and cyber security requirements.
• Reliable commuting ability to Nellis AFB, NV.
