Job ID: 10450779 | Amazon.com Services LLC SSD Engineering is searching for an innovative and solutions‑oriented Sr. Hardware Engineering project leader to lead initiatives of developing and delivering next‑generation, world‑class sortation and transportation systems. This position will impact both design and process design engineering for the SSD. We’re looking to add a handful of high‑impact engineers to our team. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions for our sortation and distribution systems. Your projects may include green‑fields, brown‑fields, and retrofits, including highly automated fulfillment centers, cross‑dock facilities, and transportation centers. Your projects will be a variety of template‑based and designed‑from‑scratch along with ownership of Process Designs end‑to‑end complementing each Design. You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast‑paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on hundreds of projects each year. You will be challenged, you will learn, you will work on high‑impact, high‑visibility projects, and you will grow. Key job responsibilities
Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the sortation and transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions in very short periods of time. Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors. Provide technical leadership for large‑scale engineering projects. Communicate effectively and execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions to make a compelling business case with senior executives. Basic Qualifications
Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. 5+ years of experience in hardware development and engineering. Proven experience managing complete hardware product lifecycles from concept through production and end‑of‑life. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production. Experience with the project management of technical projects. The base salary range for this position is USD 137,300.00 to 185,700.00 annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
