Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Why we’re looking for you
At Owner, we help independent restaurant brands compete — and win. Our mobile apps are one of the most direct ways we do that: a branded, high-quality experience that lets restaurants own their customer relationships, drive direct orders, and build loyalty without paying a cut to third-party platforms. Thousands of restaurant brands across the United States trust those apps to represent them every day.
We're looking for a senior engineer who cares deeply about building software that doesn't just ship — it holds up. At our scale, reliability isn't optional. The engineers who thrive here obsess over making things better for customers, take ownership without being asked, and find ways to make the whole team faster and more confident in what they ship.
This role sits at the intersection of platform excellence and customer impact. You'll own the systems and processes that keep our mobile apps healthy, current, and resilient — from release automation and observability to CI/CD and dependency health. We move fast, and we hold a high bar. Your job is to make sure those two things stay compatible as we grow.

This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. For San Francisco-based candidates: we have a new HQ in the Presidio for optional in-person collaboration opportunities!

The impact you will have
Own the release pipeline
— build and maintain the systems that take code from merged to production reliably, repeatably, and with minimal manual intervention across iOS and Android
Advance our release automation
— build toward fully automated, push-button deploys and rollbacks with Slack-posted status and minimal manual intervention as the default path
Strengthen performance monitoring and observability
— expand instrumentation, define alerting thresholds, build domain-level SLA dashboards, and ensure visibility across our React Native and Android environments, including offline-first scenarios
Improve CI/CD pipeline speed and reliability
— reduce build times, improve E2E test stability, integrate feature flag automation, and level up the testing infrastructure engineers depend on every day
Scale observability knowledge across the team
— create dashboards, runbooks, and instrumentation patterns that any engineer can use and extend, not just specialists
Keep the platform healthy
— React Native and dependency updates, certificate management, Apple/Google store compliance, and MDM tooling as the fleet scales
Leverage AI tools to build automations at scale
across release and distribution workflows
Help us build a great team
— interview candidates, refer strong engineers, and shape engineering culture
What we’re looking for
4+ years of experience building and shipping production applications, including owning release processes end-to-end — not just participating in them
Strong experience with TypeScript
Experience building and maintaining mobile applications in production environments where quality and uptime actually matter — React Native experience is a strong plus; experience with managed device fleets, always-on hardware, or enterprise mobile deployments is a meaningful differentiator
Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and driving meaningful release automation — a track record of moving teams toward more reliable, less manual delivery processes
Hands-on experience with observability tooling — Datadog, OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, or equivalent. Experience instrumenting mobile or edge environments where standard tooling requires adaptation is a strong plus
Track record of improving operational visibility — building dashboards, defining alerting thresholds, diagnosing production issues, and making monitoring accessible to a whole team
Comfort navigating complex external systems — Apple/Google developer workflows, certificates, provisioning, MDM platforms, store review processes, and compliance requirements
Experience at a product-focused startup, scale-up, or technology company
Strong sense of ownership, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving ambiguous, cross-cutting problems
Pay and benefits
The estimated starting base salary range for this role is $190K-220K depending on level, location and experience, plus a generous pre-IPO equity package
