Description: Injects radioisotopes and images patients. Provides diagnostic images to physicians. Performs venipuncture and transfers patients. Protects visual and other access to patient-specific and confidential information from public view, including computer screens. Removes or shreds patient-specific or other confidential information as per policy. Maintains password security and ensures computers are locked when not in use. Understands the read back of verbal orders and critical lab values. Clarifies physician orders as necessary. Utilizes standing orders when indicated. Conducts chart audits appropriately and completely. Participates in electronic health record (EHR) review if requested. Accurately communicates reports to medical doctors as warranted by patient condition. Reports adverse drug reactions or sentinel events as necessary. Uses only approved abbreviations. Understands patient safety goals and actions taken. Reports potential infectious diseases that may compromise patient or team member health. Practices hand hygiene when soiled or contaminated. Utilizes two patient identifiers before providing treatments and illustrates the process. Employs final verification before invasive procedures, verbalizes correct process, and documents in EHR. Reassesses patients in response to changes in condition after intervention and as needed, documenting in EHR. Provides treatments as ordered in a timely and appropriate manner, documenting in EHR. Educates patients and families, documenting in EHR. Demonstrates awareness of patient rights. Recognizes the spiritual aspects of patient care and provides examples. Respects dignity when dealing with death and dying situations. Utilizes an ethics committee if needed or is aware it exists. Completes annual education on time and attends seminars, hands-on training, and continuing education as appropriate. Effectively utilizes EHR, computerized scheduling, filing, and purging. Adheres to policies including proper phone etiquette, dress code, badge wearing, and personal hygiene. Ensures exam readiness, with properly stocked rooms, ready supplies, and equipment checked and sanitized. Performs diagnostic nuclear scans per standards and venipuncture.
