Job Title Systems Administrator III – Agency Texas A&M University System Offices Department Director, RELLIS Campus Job Summary Under general supervision, the Systems Administrator collaborates with other IT personnel to define technology problems and solutions, works on projects requiring state‑of‑the‑art technical or industry knowledge, and provides advanced technical support to research personnel. The role leads Linux and Unix systems for the Bush Combat Development Complex and supports other systems including VMware and GCC High. Salary $5,186.75 - $7,552.15 per month, commensurate with experience. Location Bryan, Texas Benefits Competitive health benefits Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays Defined benefit retirement plan with employer contribution through the Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS) Defined contribution retirement plan with employer contribution through an approved ORP vendor Additional voluntary tax‑deferred annuity (TDA) options Tuition assistance Wellness programs to promote work/life balance Responsibilities Manage and design the Unix and Linux infrastructure for the Bush Combat Development Complex Design, develop, and execute hardware and software solutions to address low to medium impact business problems Ensure requirements are met and evaluate performance Coordinate support for security patching and compliance for IT systems Support systems and users utilizing the GCC High environment Work with other IT personnel in planning and designing system infrastructure Ensure accuracy and effectiveness of the system to meet business/customers' requirements Monitor system performance and suggest improvements Create system‑related documents/reports including installation procedures, control documents, and test plans Work with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution Collaborate with other IT personnel to understand application improvements and plans for change Perform other duties as required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Five years of related experience Registration, Certifications, and Licenses Must be able to gain and maintain a DoD security clearance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications Advanced analysis, troubleshooting, problem‑solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment, and project management methodology Proficiency with ITIL Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills Experience with both Windows and Linux system administration Ability to lift medium (20‑40 lbs.) boxes or equipment May require work outside normal office hours Ability to work outdoors in all‑weather conditions Ability to climb stairs (equipment on elevated structures, etc.) Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others Preferred Qualifications Experience designing complex compute, data, and network environments, preferably within a research or technical environment Experience with virtualization, research computing infrastructure, scientific software, and custom lab instrumentation Ability to prioritize in a dynamic research environment and balance multiple concurrent tasks Experience in Research Development Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) technical subject areas of Networks, Cybersecurity, Instrumentation & Data Analytics, Modeling & Simulation, Test Support & Operations, and Avionics Professional industry certifications Other Requirements Security‑sensitive position restricted to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents only Equal Opportunity Statement Equal Opportunity/Veterans/Disability Employer.
