The Athletic Trainer for the Reading Royals, through partnership St. Lukes University Health Network Sports Medicine, is responsible for the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to players. This role plays a critical part in maintaining player's health, readiness, and performance. The Athletic Trainer works closely with the coaching staff, team physician, and strength and conditioning personnel to ensure a comprehensive and effective sports medicine program. Candidate will also work closely with St. Lukes to be compliant with Pennsylvania State Board of medicine mandates and other applicable professional compliance requirements and standards. This position pays an annual salary starting at $54,500 and commensurate with experience.

About the Venue Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers . The Santander Arena has hosted an array of live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family friendly events attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
Responsibilities • Provide immediate care and injury evaluation during all practices, games, and team activities. • Design and implement injury prevention programs, including taping, bracing, and therapeutic modalities. • Coordinate rehabilitation programs for injured players and oversee their safe return to play. • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all athletes. • Communicate regularly with coaching staff regarding player health, injury status, and participation clearance. • Coordinate and communicate with the team physician and other medical professionals as needed. • Manage athletic training supplies and maintain an organized and sanitary training room environment. • Travel with the team for all road games and provide consistent medical care on the road. • Collaborate with Strength and Condition personnel to promote player wellness and peak performance. • Stay current on best practices in sports medicine, treatment techniques, and ECHL medical protocols. • Ensure all health-related policies and procedures comply with team, league, and legal standards. • Assist with pre-season physicals, baseline testing, and ongoing medical evaluations. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or General Manager. • Communicate with Philadelphia Flyers/Lehigh Valley Phantoms on player personal. • Work closely with Lehigh Valley Phantoms athletic and strength and conditioning staffs.
QualificationsPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS: Sit up to 2 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day; 6 hours at a time. Walk 6 hours per day; 20 minutes at a time. Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 30 pounds. Transport patients weighing up to 250 pounds via wheelchair. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision. EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited, professional athletic training education program. Active Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Athletic Training License; New Jersey Athletic Training License preferred. A sustained record of professional development as evidenced by additional certifications, professional presentations and active involvement in professional associations. Strong preference to individuals involved in volunteer activities and special events. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 2 years of experience in athletic training, preferably with a professional or collegiate sports team. • Strong knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel. • Completion and clearance of St. Luke's policies, pre-employment criteria, and compliance standards (i.e.- Child abuse recognition, Drug Screening, Physical ect.)
