Responsibilities
Platform & Application Engineering Leadership:
Lead development of scalable digital applications, including backend microservices, event‑driven components, and user‑facing web apps. Ensure cohesive design across service and application layers, promote clean API contracts and separation of concerns, and drive consistent engineering standards. Architect microservices and API‑first platforms, event‑driven systems with asynchronous workflows, and multi‑tenant, scalable service environments. Provide technical leadership for messaging and middleware solutions such as Google Pub/Sub (preferred), Kafka, and JMS‑based platforms. Define standards for event contracts, schema versioning, retry logic, and failure handling. Integration Engineering:
Own engineering direction for internal service integrations and external partner APIs, EDI, and system‑to‑system exchanges. Establish reusable integration frameworks and shared service components, ensuring secure, monitored, and version‑controlled integration endpoints. Application & Interface Development:
Oversee modern web application development and platform interfaces. Ensure applications are role‑based, multi‑tenant aware, performance‑optimized, and scalable. Maintain consistency in user interaction patterns and encourage engineering best practices around frontend architecture, testing, and maintainability. Delivery & Engineering Governance:
Translate product roadmaps into structured engineering plans. Enforce sprint discipline, backlog alignment, and predictable release cycles. Conduct architecture and production‑readiness reviews, coordinate between US leadership and GCC execution teams, and manage contractor and partner engineering performance. Qualifications
Minimum 12 years in software engineering, with 6+ years in leadership roles. Experience scaling enterprise‑grade digital platforms. Strong expertise in microservices and API‑first design, event‑driven architectures, and messaging systems (Pub/Sub, Kafka, or equivalent). Familiarity with modern Java‑based backend frameworks (Spring preferred) and modern web application development frameworks. Experience leading distributed engineering organizations (US + offshore/GCC). Balanced architectural depth and delivery accountability with executive presence. Ability to influence across technical and non‑technical stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, and drive structured decisions in evolving environments. Collaborative mindset, confident in challenging assumptions constructively, and biased towards scalable, long‑term solutions over short‑term fixes. Comfortable operating across time zones and cultures (US + GCC) and high accountability for outcomes, not just activity. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Background in supply chain, logistics, or operational platforms. Experience with Order Management Systems (OMS) and exposure to warehouse, transportation, or fulfillment systems. Experience in cloud‑native environments (GCP preferred). Environment & Expectations
Up to 25% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally; expenses are reimbursed on a bi‑weekly basis.
