Piedmont Healthcare, a leading non-profit healthcare system in Georgia, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the night shift. In this role, you will provide specialized respiratory care to premature and critically ill newborns in a high-acuity, technologically advanced setting. Working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary care team that includes neonatologists, nurses, and other specialists, you will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate respiratory therapies tailored to fragile neonatal patients.
The RRT will be responsible for managing mechanical ventilation, CPAP, high-flow oxygen systems, and other advanced respiratory support modalities specific to the neonatal population. You will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, monitor patient responses to therapy, interpret arterial blood gases and other diagnostic data, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with the medical team. Additional responsibilities include responding to respiratory emergencies, attending high-risk deliveries for immediate newborn stabilization, and participating in neonatal resuscitation in accordance with established protocols and NRP guidelines.
As a night-shift clinician, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuous, high-quality respiratory care throughout the overnight hours, ensuring timely interventions and vigilant monitoring. You will utilize electronic medical records for accurate documentation, follow evidence-based clinical protocols, adhere to infection control and safety standards, and assist with the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment commonly used in the NICU.
Piedmont Healthcare fosters a culture of respect, innovation, and teamwork, emphasizing patient- and family-centered care in a supportive and inclusive environment. In this NICU role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues, contribute to interdisciplinary rounds, and provide education to parents and caregivers regarding respiratory support and home-care considerations when appropriate. You will have opportunities to participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical projects, and ongoing training designed to advance neonatal respiratory care practices.
Working at Piedmont Healthcare offers meaningful opportunities for both personal and professional growth. RRTs in the NICU benefit from access to continuing education, competency development, and mentorship, supporting career advancement within respiratory therapy and neonatal critical care. A competitive compensation package, including a sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, is available. If you are a dedicated RRT with a passion for caring for the smallest and most vulnerable patients, and you are interested in contributing to an expert, collaborative team on the night shift, Piedmont Healthcare invites you to apply for this rewarding NICU opportunity.
