As we continue to grow, we are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Quality Assurance Technician in our Lawrence, KS location. The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting and implementing standards and procedures that align with expectations of our customers. The technician interacts daily with multiple levels of management and production personnel, fully supporting the Quality Strategies. The technician must perform inspections on incoming material, completed products, assist with quality audits, be comfortable working with others, and work independently in a high-volume environment. SHIFT: Wednesday to Friday 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM CST and every other Saturday with the same start time. The most important activities performed: High self-motivation – ability to work independently on multiple projects High attention to detail and organization – ability to execute with minimal supervision (occasional schedule flexibility may be necessary) Work on a PC with a high degree of accuracy – experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Follows, assists with, and maintains quality assurance standards and procedures Read and interpret simple engineering drawings to complete material and product inspections Prepares documents and processes to record results of inspections, and accurately maintains records Perform physical property tests (i.e., tensile, hardness) Complete quality checks and audits on the production floor Responsible for ensuring that all measurement devices are within calibration Propose and implement process improvements within the quality assurance department Ability to work in and contribute in a team environment Wearing proper PPE as needed (Kevlar sleeves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel toe shoes) Keeping a clean and organized work area, as well as general housekeeping (support 5S) Any other duties as required Minimum qualifications required (education/experience/knowledge/skills): Manufacturing experience in a facilitator, technician, coordinator, and/or lead role (or equivalent experience) 2 years of experience implementing quality (i.e., checks and tests) Basic knowledge of company products and processes Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with production leadership Ability to operate laboratory-testing equipment Experience in gage calibration desired, but not required Experience using QMS software desired, but not required High school graduate or equivalent Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, continuously and frequently overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs requires team lifting of at least 2 people. Continuously and/or frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs. require teamwork of at least 2 people. Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily). Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently. Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks. Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers. Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment. Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools. Mathematical and measuring skills required product testing and evaluation. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanner may be required for specific work tasks. Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
