As we continue our journey toward becoming Irelands most trusted and sustainable business, we have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our team as a Transport Planning Manager. What youll be doing: Lead, support, and develop a team of planners, provide coaching and training to build skills and knowledge. Oversee the daily/weekly planning of deliveries to stores or customers, ensure plans optimize fleet, drivers, and routes while balancing cost and service. Drive improvements in planning systems, processes, and tools, identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service. Support implementation of best practices in route optimization and capacity utilization; support projects such as automation, new system rollouts, or sustainability initiatives. Responsible for Planning team KPIs and where appropriate implement timely corrective action. Maintain a working environment in line with Health & Safety, Food Safety & Quality legislation and ensure that employees are trained accordingly. Liaise with other departments to ensure that product delivery meets deadlines and customer expectations. Experience with WMS, planning tools, forecasting tools, etc. are beneficial but not essential. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on transport costs, fuel usage, and budget adherence. What were looking for: Essential: High level of computer literacy. Ability to interpret and analyze data Excellent communication, people management and customer service skills. Experience of managing a team in a transport department within a high volume/turnover business. Good organizational and administration skills with the ability to solve problems in a fast-moving environment. Thorough knowledge of distribution operations including specific processes such as H&S and HACCP etc. Minimum of 5 years experience in transport/logistics management, ideally within a high-volume environment. Knowledge of Road Transport Legislation is essential. BSc in Logistics and Transport and/or BSc in Supply Chain Management Transport Management CPC Customer focused and driven. Desirable: The ideal candidate should be a team player, be flexible and have the ability to maintain focus whilst under pressure. Have the ability to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and have a consistent work methodology. Experience in a similar type of role or in a position that demonstrates the above skills will be an advantage. Experience with transport management systems, route optimization software, and telematics desirable (e.g., SAP, Paragon, telematics, TMS).
