Job Description The Windchill Functional Architect is responsible for designing/architecting, testing, and demonstrating Windchill solutions within an advanced Software and Enterprise Solutions team to support our US Dept of War customers. This role involves supporting Windchill application development projects, performing detailed analyses, and ensuring the integration of advanced methodologies and tools. The ideal candidate has 5 to 8 years of combined experience in Windchill application development/architecture, at least 3 years of experience as a process architect/analyst, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
Become a trusted advisor to customer SMEs who use Windchill & the end user community at large.
Provide demos of functionality and evangelize customer capability that has been built in the system to potential new stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand, guide, and capture business requirements
Own the translation of business requirements into technical and business process solutions.
Evaluate business/technical requirements for Windchill or ThingWorx requested functionality and provide level of effort estimation to support sprint planning and costing.
Design/architect business processes that span the usage of multiple enterprise tools (including Windchill & ThingWorx) to achieve desired business objectives.
Design/architect custom Windchill & ThingWorx solutions including, but not limited to: custom actions models, data cleansing utilities, configurable links, wizards, workflows, lifecycles, InfoEngine/QML/JAVA based reports, and OIRs.
Support integration projects between Windchill and other enterprise systems and applications.
Conduct comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and system testing ensuring application quality and functionality stay in spec.
Assist with debugging and resolving complex application/customization defects and issues.
Develop and maintain technical documentation for Windchill & ThingWorx configurations/customizations.
Provide training and support to end-users on Windchill/Navigate functionality.
Provide training and support on evolving business processes and best practice that utilize Windchill/ThingWorx
Stay up to date with the latest Windchill developments and industry best practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance or be able to receive and maintain one.
Currently hold PTC certifications for Windchill.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or other Engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience working with PTC’s Windchill PLM & ThingWorx Navigate software
Experience working with and developing on top of Windchill version 12 and ThingWorx version 9.
Experience collaborating with the PTC Technical Support & R&D organizations.
Knowledge of Windchill System & Business Administration, including security configurations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work directly with and guide developers.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
Experience with Windchill version 13.
Familiarity with Configuration Status Accounting and/or Provisioning processes in the US DoD or equivalent military industrial supplier or platform owner.
In-depth understanding of the aerospace and defense industry.
Knowledge of DoD software development policies and requirements.
Experience with and certifications in Agile software development methodologies.
Security + Certification
Familiarity with database management systems (e.g. Oracle and SQL Server) and SQL scripting.
Programming skills leveraging Java, JSP, J2EE, XML, JSON, and HTML5.
Experience with Fortify or other security scanning tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and code management leveraging GIT (e.g. repo, branches, merging, conflict resolution, build hardening, ant scripting, and deployment vehicles like BIFF, SCF, etc.).
Experience with AWS cloud services.
Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 8 administration and shell scripting specifically for Windchill Implementations.
Experience with Windchill and ThingWorx Navigate licensure, installation, patching, and upgrades.
Experience investigating and resolving Windchill performance related issues.
Active-duty military experience.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift upto 15 pounds at times.
This position typically requires working in a lab or office setting with some exposure to manufacturing and testing environments.
Clearance Requirements Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL). In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment.
