WCB NE is looking for experienced Support Workers to join our dedicated team, supporting children and young people in crisis.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will support young people facing trauma, emotional distress, and behavioural challenges — helping them feel safe, supported, and empowered to move forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support to children and young people in crisis
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of those in your care
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours
- Build positive, trusting relationships
- Support daily routines, education, and life skills
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
- Assist with daily tasks including cooking and cleaning
Requirements
- Minimum 12 months’ experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Calm, resilient, and able to work under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible availability (including sleep-ins and waking nights)
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to provide 5 years’ employment references
- Willing to complete pre-employment training
- willing to do some weekends
Desirable:
- Full UK driving licence
