We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with advanced expertise in Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure, strong hands-on systems engineering skills, and a solid background in cybersecurity best practices. This role is responsible for designing, securing, and maintaining our hybrid enterprise environment, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and compliance. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with a proactive mindset—comfortable both engineering solutions and serving as a trusted technical leader within the IT team. Key Responsibilities Cloud & Infrastructure Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Azure cloud environments (compute, storage, networking, monitoring, governance). Manage cloud resource provisioning, performance tuning, cost control, and lifecycle management. Maintain hybrid environments, integrating on-premises systems with cloud infrastructure. Automate deployments and system configurations using IaC tools (Terraform, ARM templates, PowerShell). Networking & Systems Oversee critical network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and routing/switching. Provide support for Windows Server and Linux platforms, virtualization, and cloud storage. Ensure resilience of core infrastructure through backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies. Cybersecurity Implement and monitor cloud and infrastructure security controls (identity, access, firewalls, encryption, logging). Partner with Security and Compliance vendors to enforce security policies and align with frameworks (PCI SSC, ISO 27001, CIS). Partner with vendors to manage patching, endpoint security, and secure configuration of systems. Harden systems and infrastructure against cyber threats and conduct regular vulnerability assessments. Lead incident response efforts for infrastructure-related security events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in systems engineering with significant focus on Azure cloud environments. Proven hands-on expertise in: Microsoft Azure services (compute, storage, networking, governance, security). Identity management and access control (Azure AD, MFA, RBAC). Infrastructure security, vulnerability management, and incident response. Networking fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, DNS). Proficiency with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Terraform, Python preferred). Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (PCI DSS, NIST CSF, ISO, CIS, Zero Trust). Relevant certifications strongly preferred (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate, CCNP, CISSP, or CISM). Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
