About Vera Whole Health
Vera Whole Health delivers patient-centered primary care focused on prevention, education, and whole-person wellness. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support clinical operations, enhance patient experience, and contribute to a collaborative care team.
How You Will Make an ImpactPatient Care
- Take manual vital signs, document in the EMR, and perform systems review.
- Perform point-of-care testing and assist providers with diagnostic procedures.
- Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications per provider direction or standing orders.
- Observe and document patient reactions as needed.
- Perform phlebotomy, prepare lab work, and process specimens.
- Provide routine patient education and self-management support.
- Track preventive care needs, referrals, and follow-up testing.
- Conduct outreach to patients and specialists to coordinate care, close care gaps, and manage records.
Clinic Operations
- Manage patient flow throughout the care center.
- Set up exam and procedure rooms based on visit needs.
- Handle multi-line phones, email communication, and occasional front-desk support.
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, and stock exam rooms.
- Serve as an external-facing representative for scheduling, registration, and patient communication.
- Travel to other sites or off-site events as needed.
Team Responsibilities
- Participate in team meetings, huddles, and collaborative care planning.
- Engage in training, orientation, and ongoing competency assessments.
- Work flexible hours as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Experience documenting in an EMR. (Athena)
- Minimum 2+ years of experience
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
Preferred
- Primary care or urgent care experience.
- AAMA certification
- Ability to set up exam/procedure rooms using sterile/aseptic technique.
- Basic knowledge of sterilization, autoclaving, and office-based procedures.
- Ability to administer immunizations to all age groups.
