Responsibilities
Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed
Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
Leveraging extensive experience to bring a seasoned perspective to organizing files and maintaining organizational efficiency within the firm
Applying strategic insights to docketing (scheduling) events for optimal case progression
Providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members through scheduled case reviews and training recommendations
Assisting clients with completing complex legal forms with a depth of understanding
Drafting nuanced letters and intricate court documents for attorney review
Conducting comprehensive legal research on complex and specialized issues, verifying case law, and reviewing legislation
Overseeing the preparation of discovery and responses to complex discovery demands
Facilitating meetings with clients, offering seasoned insights during reviews of discovery responses
Proactively communicating with clients to provide updates, gather information, and offer experienced guidance
Collaborating closely with attorneys to bring a wealth of courtroom experience to the preparation of cases for hearings
Serving as a reliable and experienced backup for the Legal Assistant, handling tasks such as e‑filing, file updates, phone answering, and scheduling
Undertaking additional tasks as assigned to advance case progression and maintain organizational professionalism and training standards
Qualifications
Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills
3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
Candidates must have completed an ABA‑approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
Compensation $63,000 - $75,000 yearly
