Position Description The HVAC Technician II leads and performs the assembly, installation, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems and equipment.
Position Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Five (5) years HVAC experience.
Hold a Refrigeration System Operating Engineer Certification, EPA I, II, or III, NATE certification.
Ability to read, understand and communicate instructions.
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer skills such as internet, email, electronic manual, etc.
Ability to learn additional programs quickly.
Valid driver’s license.
OSHA 10 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications for refrigeration systems, commercial kitchen equipment, air handlers, and VAV's.
Prior work experience in a commercial setting.
Essential Duties
Complete preventative maintenance in a timely manner.
Have intermediate knowledge for troubleshooting equipment.
Contribute recommendations for the improvement of work methods, safety, materials, and tools.
Remove, maintain, and replace machines, parts, and controls.
Troubleshoot with intermediate knowledge for primary electronic systems using ladder logic, diagrams, and schematics.
Make new installation wiring hookups and upgrade present equipment as needed.
Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on all types of devices.
Make intermediate decisions regarding mechanical and electrical repairs.
Perform intermediate mechanical operations, repairs, and maintenance to building systems.
Interpret and understand Federal, State and local code ordinances.
Assist in the training and instructing of grade personnel.
Work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Be on call for one week (7 consecutive days) each month.
Physical Work Classification & Demands
Heavy work: exerts up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly to move objects.
Requires walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and typing.
Often operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery.
Communicates with employees and external stakeholders on various topics.
Rereads written communications, views mail submissions, reads blueprints, and takes/ verifies field measurements.
Climbs ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at various heights.
Balances, stoops, reaches, grasps, and has visual acuity required for vehicle operation.
Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures, noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
