Über
hands‑on Controller
to own the accounting operations of a fast‑growing, venture‑backed digital media and subscription business. This role will be responsible for managing the monthly close, improving accounting processes, and ensuring accurate GAAP‑compliant financial reporting across high‑volume transaction platforms.
This is a
roll‑up‑your‑sleeves role
for someone who enjoys solving complex accounting challenges, improving systems, and working with large datasets.
Key Responsibilities
Own the
monthly close process
including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Reduce the
close timeline from ~30 days to ~10 days
through process improvements
Maintain
GAAP‑compliant accounting
across subscription and transactional revenue streams
Manage
revenue recognition , cost of revenue, and royalty‑related accounting
Reconcile large transaction data sets from platforms such as
Stripe, Apple, Google, and Roku
Improve and standardize accounting processes and controls
Support
bank debt reporting, audits, and financial reviews
Provide reporting to support
sales tax and other compliance requirements
Team Structure
Reports to the
VP of Finance & Accounting
Works alongside a
Senior Accountant
Collaborates with
data analysts
on large transaction datasets
** This role will begin as an individual contributor role and grow into a leadership role as the company grows.
Qualifications
Experience as a
Senior Accountant or Controller
in a growth‑stage company
Proven ability to
own and manage the full monthly close
Strong
GAAP accounting knowledge
Experience working with
large financial datasets and multiple data sources
Experience with
subscription, SaaS, streaming, or recurring revenue models
preferred
Familiarity with platforms such as
Stripe, Apple, Google, Roku , or similar payment systems
CPA preferred but not required
Base salary:
$120,000 – $145,000 depending on experience
Annual performance bonus
