Job Purpose The System Development Lead will work with the Account Executive team on projects where creative solutions and innovative technologies are keys to success. The System Development Lead will work with customers to understand needs and will be responsible for driving the direction of solution-based projects. The position will interface with the customer and internal teams, as well as Hy‑Tek partners and vendors, to ensure successful delivery of solution-based designs ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop an understanding of the customer’s desired solution and identify the critical elements of the business case for all projects.
Educate customers about terminology, features, and benefits of traditional technology versus innovative and automated solutions.
Drive the direction of data analysis needs for undefined solutions.
Educate the customer on complete data analysis and the correlations to the desired results.
Evaluate innovative technologies based on specific data driven design criteria.
Responsible for establishing timelines that meet customer expectations by setting the direction of the solution and requesting resources.
Ensure continual customer satisfaction by identifying and resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.
Act as a key contributor during all stages of the proposal phase, including site visits, with the customer and account executive.
Lead an internal cross functional team on direction and accountability to develop integrated solution options.
Assist the Account Executive team with the positioning of internal resources for the solution.
Assist in presenting solution-based designs with the Account Executive team to the customer to win the business.
For innovation undefined solutions, develop and document key design criteria.
Organize, lead, and assist the team in budgeting the concepts, firm pricing, and final designs.
Effectively present solution-based designs to the customer, from the executive to operational level.
Present a professional image to customers and vendors.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or related field is preferred.
5+ years’ experience in the material handling industry; industry knowledge related to engineering, supply chain, and logistics.
Knowledgeable in traditional and new technologies in the material handling industry, and how software can be utilized for these technologies to communicate seamlessly.
Knowledge of solution-based requisites with ROI foundation.
Creative, self‑motivated, individual who enjoys working in team settings with a focus on integrated solutions.
Ability to apply solution-based designs to the operational process for Hy‑Tek customers.
A strong desire to encourage the use of new technologies with the ability to explain benefits to customers to solve their challenges.
Demonstrated ability to work with customers, face‑to‑face and effective phone skills.
Proficient understanding of software infrastructure supporting order fulfillment environments.
Ability to learn, adopt, and design new, innovative technologies including mobile robotics, goods to person, robotic sortation, and industrial robotics.
Possess a customer first mentality to solve challenges.
Well‑developed verbal / interpersonal skills with strong organizational, problem solving, judgement making, and time management skills.
Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and comfortably in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Project, Visio) and Autodesk Products (AutoCAD, Inventor, Etc.).
Ability to work without direct supervision with a high degree of responsibility.
Working Conditions
Ability to travel up to 20% or as needed with fluctuation in intensity based on the phase of the project.
Willingness to work extended hours to support proposal and contract activities.
Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities.
Working in a stationary position for an extended period.
Moving or traversing for an extended period.
Occasional ascending and descending scaffolding and/or mezzanines.
Operating computers for an extended period.
Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels.
