The RL and Reasoning Team focuses on building reinforcement learning environments for AI systems that can learn to hack and defend software.
Job Summary As a Staff Engineer, you will build the infrastructure and tooling that transforms real‑world vulnerability research into large‑scale reinforcement learning environments used to train next‑generation AI systems. You will design pipelines that ingest software projects, analyze them with Bugcrowd’s Mayhem platform, and automatically construct training environments for frontier AI labs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Build high‑performance systems that generate RL environments.
• Design and maintain pipelines to ingest software projects, analyze them, and construct training environments.
• Collaborate with security research and AI teams to refine environment quality.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
Strong background in systems engineering and reinforcement learning workflows.
Experience with binary exploitation (buffer overflows, fuzzing, exploitation, x86/64).
Proficiency in Python and C; Rust is a plus.
Experience with DevOps pipelines (GitHub Actions), reproducible builds (Docker, BuildKit, Nix).
Understanding of software vulnerabilities, fuzzing, or program analysis.
Experience with build systems and large open‑source codebases.
Comfort working with Linux systems and low‑level debugging.
Experience with benchmark environments (CTFs, SWE‑bench, security challenges) is a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements • Remote, work‑from‑home 100% of the time.
• Sitting or standing 50% of the time.
• Carry or move laptop as needed.

Pay Range Disclosure National estimate for the base range: $176,400 – $242,550.
Position may also be eligible for discretionary bonus or commission.
