ABOUT THE ROLE New Classrooms is seeking a skilled writer to serve as our Grants Manager. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Grants Manager will be responsible for writing and submitting grant proposals, renewals, reports, and other content to support the achievement of the Development team’s fundraising goals. This role will ensure the proper management of New Classrooms’ grants, including tracking key deadlines, facilitating strategic donor communications, and collaborating with Finance and Program staff as necessary. In addition to managing grants, this role will support the Development team in cultivating new and existing donor relationships. Finally, the Grants Manager will also serve as project manager for key initiatives supporting all facets of the Development team’s efforts, including certain fundraising events. This is an exciting period for New Classrooms, and the Development team is instrumental in helping position the organization to achieve our targeted growth goals that align to our new strategic plan, which kicked off in July 2025, and includes a $30M fundraising goal. This is a fantastic position for someone who wants to be part of an organization that is changing K-12 education and to build relationships with high-caliber philanthropic partners within a collaborative and fast-paced organization. WHAT THIS ROLE DOES Grant Writing and Management Collaborate with the Vice President of Development and across other departments to refine proposal ideas and project budgets Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals and reports, including compiling requested attachments, and proofreading content Draft letters of inquiry and other materials for donor cultivation Track the execution of all grant-related milestones, coordinating with various departments to ensure milestones are met Manage reporting process for current grants, including tracking deadlines, writing narrative reports, working with members of the Program team to report on project activities, and coordinating with the Finance team to track grant expenditures Prospect Identification and Cultivation Identify funding opportunities and institutional prospects at the national, local, and federal level, create succinct research summaries, and communicate your findings to the team. Track current and prospective funder touch points and develop and execute cultivation strategies to move these opportunities forward, including drafting strategic donor communications for a variety of audiences Keep track of the giving strategy for major institutions and continually assess for strategic alignment Donor Communications Collaborate with the Vice President to prepare for and attend donor-facing meetings for current and prospective donors as needed Support the Vice President in managing the portfolio of current foundation support, especially in communications with grant officers Team Operations and Project Management Manage gift processing, including entering information into Salesforce and facilitating timely donor acknowledgement Support the Development team’s use of Salesforce, ensuring data is up-to-date and accurate, producing reportings, and helping to manage CEO’s funder relationships in the database Compile organizational information to share with the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis Work with the Development team to plan and execute national and local events (open houses, strategy sessions, funder breakfasts, learning symposiums, etc.) Partner on special projects with the Development team and CEO KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE ROLE Operates Effectively

Candidates without a fundraising/development background but with extensive writing experience will be considered Exceptional writing skills and high degree of intellectual curiosity Significant experience with project management Demonstrated passion for/commitment to education and fundraising Experience with Salesforce or other donor management software preferred Experience securing funding from national or local foundations is a plus Experience with federal grants is a plus Comfort working with numbers, and interpreting budgets and data analysis preferred A strong work ethic, supported by commitment and excellent follow up and follow through Willingness to “pitch in” and work as a team player on a spectrum of activities from supporting initiatives administratively to contributing to and executing strategy WORK SAMPLE SUBMISSION (Required) Along with your application, please submit one professional writing sample that demonstrates your ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with external audiences. Limit your writing sample to a single page using a 12-point font and standard one-inch margins. Confidential or identifying information may be redacted. ROLE CLASSIFICATION AND BENEFITS This role is remote, full-time, and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 41 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget and a quarterly cell phone subsidy. The hiring salary range for this role is $63,000 - $68,000 and will be commensurate with experience. We have a hiring salary range of $70,000 - $75,000 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco/Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle and their metro areas. New Classrooms is a fully remote organization. All employees work from home, and occasionally travel for in-person get-togethers and off-sites.
