We are seeking a
Preconstruction Manager to
Lead the preconstruction process for a defined portfolio within our Building Automation Solutions (BAS) practice. This role bridges the gap between sales and project delivery by managing bid processes, developing proposals, identifying risks, and ensuring a seamless transition from project pursuit to execution. General Job Duties:
Lead all aspects of preconstruction and bid processes to strengthen portfolio performance and mitigate project risks
Manage and achieve portfolio sales and profit targets
Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, EPCs, and trade partners
Analyze client goals, requirements, risks, and specifications to support project success
Develop portfolio strategy in collaboration with leadership
Ensure seamless project handoff with clear documentation of scope, pricing, risks, and schedules
Lead proposal development including scope narratives, technical solutions, and pricing strategies
Coordinate with estimating, solution architects, and delivery teams to define project approaches
Conduct bid reviews, client presentations, and contract negotiations
Track opportunities and pipeline within CRM tools
Participate in industry events, client workshops, and presentations
Support contract risk mitigation and ensure compliance with bid requirements
Travel up to 35%
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed: Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or related field
5–10 years of experience in preconstruction, project management, or estimating (industrial or building automation preferred)
Proven experience leading bid processes and managing complex proposals
Strong ability to navigate and win sales opportunities
Expertise in proposal development, cost estimating, and scope definition
Strong financial acumen (pricing strategy, margins, competitive positioning)
Excellent interpersonal, client management, and presentation skills
High proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM systems, and estimating tools
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to evaluate technical solutions and project feasibility
Preferred:
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), PLCs, SCADA, or HMI platforms
Familiarity with mission-critical facility infrastructure
Experience leveraging AI or automation tools in estimating or proposal development
The target annual base compensation for this position is $100,000 - $120,000, based on relevant qualifications.
