About the Role Future Forward is hiring accomplished research mentors for
Mechanical Engineering
and/or
Aeronautical Engineering
research projects. These mentors will guide school students in designing and executing high-quality science fair and research projects that can compete in national and international levels. This is a unique opportunity to inspire and nurture the next generation of innovators while applying your expertise in science and engineering to hands‑on mentorship.
Responsibilities
Mentor students (grades 6-12) through the end-to-end research process, including:
Brainstorming to identify meaningful research questions
Helping them structure their hypotheses and methodologies
Overseeing experimentation, data collection, and analysis
Guidance in manuscript writing, poster preparation, and presentations
Providing constructive feedback that helps students elevate their projects to be competitive in regional, state, and national science fairs.
Encouraging scientific curiosity, creativity, and ethical research practices.
Adapt mentoring style to suit diverse student backgrounds and levels of experience.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics or Aerospace Engineering
Master of Science from a reputed university
Experience mentoring students in STEM research (experience with science fairs, labs, or academic supervision highly valued)
Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for high school students
Passion for mentoring and empowering young researchers
