You must hold Salesforce Platform Developer I as a minimum. This is non-negotiable.
Platform Developer II or pursuit of Certified Technical Architect is a strong positive signal.
Administrator, App Builder, or Consultant certifications alone do not meet this requirement.
2. Hands-On Apex Development — Evidenced in Work History
You personally write Apex. Triggers, batch jobs, scheduled jobs, asynchronous processing.
You debug and refactor existing Apex — including code you didn't write and wasn't documented.
You understand governor limits, bulkification, and SOQL optimisation in practice, not just in theory.
This must be evidenced in your employment history. Listing Apex in a skills section without delivery examples will not be sufficient.
You have personally configured Certinia — not overseen it, not advised on it, not sat above it in an architecture role.
Billing Central, financial close workflows, or invoicing experience is strongly preferred.
PSA-only experience is noted but is not sufficient on its own for this role.
If you do not have Certinia experience but have hands-on configuration of a comparable Salesforce-native ERP or billing platform, make that case explicitly in your application.
4. Bidirectional API Integration — Built and Maintained Personally
You have personally designed and built REST API integrations — both inbound (external systems calling Salesforce) and outbound (Salesforce calling external APIs).
Named Credentials, Connected Apps, OAuth 2.0, Apex HttpCallout — hands-on, not conceptual.
Experience with Platform Events or Change Data Capture for event-driven integration patterns.
You build error handling, retry logic, and monitoring into your integrations as standard practice.
What This Role Is Not
You are primarily an Enterprise Architect or Business Analyst who oversees developers — this role requires you to be the developer.
Your Salesforce certifications are Administrator and App Builder only, with no Platform Developer credential.
Your Certinia experience is limited to PSA time-tracking and resource management with no billing or financial close exposure.
Your API integration experience is via MuleSoft, Boomi, or middleware platforms only — we have deliberately moved away from middleware-heavy approaches and are not looking to reintroduce them.
Your Apex experience is listed as a skill but cannot be demonstrated with concrete delivery examples from your employment history.
You are looking for a contract or consulting engagement — this is a permanent hire only.
The Environment Our Salesforce org is large — 450+ objects, automation-heavy, with known inherited technical debt. Our Certinia deployment is custom-configured and currently on a 2023 release. You will be the most technically senior Salesforce resource on the team and will work in close collaboration with our broader development teams on integration work.
If complex, imperfect environments energise you rather than frustrate you, this is the right role. If you prefer greenfield builds with clean slates and well-documented codebases, it probably isn't.
Preferred — Not Required
Multi-company consolidated financial reporting in Certinia
Experience refactoring legacy or vendor-delivered Salesforce automation
CI/CD tooling — Flosum, Change Sets, or equivalent
ClickUp or project management tool integration with Salesforce
