Collectivus company Southern Hobby Distribution is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing and replenishment operations across our distribution businesses. This role is responsible for managing the team of buyers who ensure consistent product availability, disciplined inventory management, and strong supplier coordination across a large and diverse product catalog.
The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in maintaining inventory flow and supporting sales growth by aligning purchasing decisions with demand forecasts, vendor supply constraints, and inventory performance. This leader will bring structure, accountability, and operational discipline to purchasing while improving supplier coordination and replenishment planning.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in distribution purchasing, SKU-level inventory management, and leading high-volume replenishment operations.
Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Replenishment Operations
Lead the day-to-day purchasing and replenishment function to ensure timely and accurate procurement across thousands of SKUs while maintaining strong product availability.
Manage and develop a team of buyers responsible for purchase orders, vendor communication, and replenishment planning.
Establish clear priorities, accountability, and performance standards across the purchasing team.
Inventory Health
Maintain disciplined inventory management by balancing product availability with working capital efficiency.
Monitor inventory turns, excess inventory, and slow-moving stock.
Partner with key suppliers and distributors to ensure reliable product flow, manage allocations, and maintain strong communication regarding lead times and supply availability.
Sales & Demand Alignment
Work closely with Sales and Operations to align purchasing with demand forecasts, promotions, and product launches
Operational Improvement
Drive improvements in purchasing processes, reporting visibility, and purchasing workflows to support scale and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
7–10 years of purchasing or inventory management experience
Experience in distribution, wholesale, or multi-SKU environments
Experience managing buyers or purchasing teams
Strong understanding of replenishment planning and inventory velocity
Experience working with ERP systems and purchasing platforms
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
