moments that we find our purpose. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Audit Manager to oversee, coordinate, and improve audit response operations across our healthcare organization. This individual will play a critical role in managing payer audits, internal billing audits, and medical records requests while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and follow-through on corrective actions. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, healthcare compliance experience, and a process-oriented mindset to close critical gaps in our current audit operations.

What You'll Do:
Audit Coordination and Oversight
Serve as the central point of contact for all external audit requests from payers, government agencies, or other regulatory bodies.
Establish a structured intake, tracking, and response workflow to ensure timely submission of audit materials.
Maintain a master tracker for logging audit volume, payers, outcomes, and required corrective actions.
Generate historical audit score trends and insights to support performance benchmarking and proactive readiness.
Establish and manage the audit intake workflow, including partnering with billing to oversee a dedicated audit inbox and coordination of triage, tracking, and timely resolution.
Oversee the audit documentation process from end to end to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Train and guide operational and clinical teams on documentation standards, including the inclusion of all required signatures and supporting records.
Conduct quality reviews of submissions before release to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
Collaborate with the medical records team to ensure timely and compliant fulfillment of records requests.
Implement and maintain a formal process for tracking request status, due diligence, and corrective follow-up.
Partner on developing reporting dashboards or logs for visibility across leadership.
Conduct or oversee proactive internal billing audits focused on modifiers, overpayments, and adherence to payer requirements.
Identify and report on billing trends or compliance gaps before they are flagged in external audits.
Work cross-functionally with billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve discrepancies and strengthen practices.
Audit for any payer overpayments and ensure timely return of such overpayments.
Coordinate the development and implementation of corrective action plans (CAPs) following audit findings.
Track CAP status and collaborate with department leaders to ensure sustainable resolution.
Present summary reports to leadership with trends, root cause analyses, and outcomes.
Provide training to internal teams on audit preparedness, documentation best practices, and audit protocol.
Establish SOPs and tools to support consistency across regions and teams.
Identify and implement improvements in audit operations, documentation processes, and compliance workflows.
Develop and implement formal escalation protocols for unresolved audit documentation issues or high‑risk findings, ensuring rapid response and leadership visibility.
Who are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Compliance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
5+ years of experience in healthcare audit management, compliance, or revenue cycle operations.
Actively holds healthcare compliance certification (CHC, CHPC or similar) or is willing to obtain certification within the first two years of employment
Demonstrated understanding in; HIPAA, Privacy Act, FWA, Stark and Anti-kickback laws, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations
Able to read, analyze, and comprehend complicated contract requirements, regulations, and statutes
Excellent knowledge of legal, ethical, and compliance procedures, regulations, and requirements
Able to juggle competing demands and priorities while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining strong attention to detail
Strong analytical, project management, and problem‑solving skills
Comfortable leading in an environment of constant change and ambiguity
Demonstrated working experience and expertise in negotiating privacy and data protection agreements, including business associate agreements and data use agreements
