Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician DUTIES
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
Identify problems, determine relevance of information, and generate/evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliations.
Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and complete pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures, parts used, and findings to Repair Orders on an iOS device with the TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely manner.
Work independently, managing one’s daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity to meet or exceed most Standard Repair Times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain repair estimate approvals, pull purchase order numbers, and discuss Repair Order findings.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health and environmental policies, as well as federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Maintain the company‑issued service truck, completing daily safety checks and pre/post trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field (alternative combinations may be considered).
At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
Possess and supply a full set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
OEM training and certifications are preferred.
Participate in and complete all company‑required training.
Compliance with DOT regulations, including a background screen and physical examination before employment.
Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months of validity, or a DOT physical if less than four months remain.
Minimum age 21 years or older due to interstate commerce regulations.
Safety‑trained driver with a valid state driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
