Position Summary This position supports spacecraft, missile, hypersonic, or other advanced aerospace platforms operating in extreme and highly dynamic environments. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the end-to-end mechanical design of a complex missile system under development, including management of mechanical interfaces and resolution of mechanical integration issues through coordination between suppliers and internal design teams across all phases of the lifecycle.
Provide day-to-day technical leadership of a multi-site team, plan future activities, brief leadership on progress and challenges, and drive integrated technical solutions to closure.
Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while ensuring sound technical content and timely closure.
Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities.
Generate and release drawings using CAD software.
Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.
Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility located next door to the engineering building.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
At least 1 year of professional engineering experience.
Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, materials, and analytical methods.
Mechanical design and/or manufacturing background with proven ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering design drawings.
Proficiency with engineering CAD tools (e.g., Creo, I DEAS, SolidWorks) and familiarity with model-based product definition (MBD).
Ability to thrive in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
US citizenship required with the ability to obtain or maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills
Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience.
Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation.
Experience with test methods, planning and execution.
Experience working with other LM operating units.
Experience working with suppliers.
Functions well in a creative, high‑tempo, collaborative, cross‑functional, dynamic, and multi‑disciplinary environment.
Familiarity with LM Space processes, procedures, and tools (including EPDM/Windchill).
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with model‑based definition (Data Set Rating 6).
Highly proficient with Creo Parametric.
Experience supporting production of missile or spacecraft hardware.
Active DoD Secret clearance.
Security Clearance This position requires a government security clearance. US citizenship is required for consideration.
Pay Range The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 – $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
