POSITION SUMMARY
Imaging Clerk is responsible for providing telephone, reception, clerical, scheduling, and technologist assistant for patients in the Imaging Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
- Accomplish the mission and meet the goals of the Hospital and Imaging Department.
- Work at a level not requiring constant supervision.
- Conduct daily department operations efficiently and correctly in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Decision-making: Make independent decisions daily, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks.
- Have a basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to aid the radiologic technologist.
- Receive and transmit various information including images, radiologist reports and prescriptions for services.
- Accurately input and manipulate a variety of data sets using information management. Assures that all clerical duties are up to date and filed correctly.
- Monitor the X-ray to transcription workflow; maintain timeliness of reports.
- Provide excellent customer service while assisting patients, Imaging Department and Hospital Staff.
- Conduct daily department operations efficiently and effectively in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure the office area is clean and orderly maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable work environment.
- Imaging Clerk will always work within their competency. Competent is defined as having sufficient skill, knowledge, or experience.
- Assist Technologist when needed to transport, position or support patients. Performs activities related to transportation of patients as directed.
- Ensure that the examination and history of requested studies coincide. Seek Technologists assistance as needed.
- Maintain adequate control over film records, read and unread.
- Actively communicate concerns and incidents to proper authority. These include but are not limited to, changes in patient condition, activities not routine, complaints and safety issues.
- Attending all meetings or instructional classes including but not limited to departmental, hospital or professional as necessary or directed.
- Meet requirements of HIPAA.
- Comply with the requirements of the Benson Hospital Corporate Compliance Program.
- Assures results given by phone are accurate with respect to patient identification and date/time of service.
- Follows all safety procedures for handling and discarding bio-hazardous materials.
- Restocks work areas with the proper rotation of supplies, checking for outdates and maintaining a continuous inventory by reporting low supplies to proper ordering personnel.
- Aid in an emergency situation, as able.
- Aid in checking in and out, patients.
- Assist in rescheduling no-show patients.
- Always follow dress code, wearing proper hospital attire; scrubs, closed toed shoes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Prefer experience in an Imaging/Radiologic setting.
- Possess excellent human relations and communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to function in a team environment.
- Possess good clerical and organizational skills.
- Have a proficient working knowledge of computers and general office software.
- Must be comfortable working with digital information systems.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification or ability to complete.
- CPR per the Benson Hospital Policy.
