Title: EBC Culinary Chef

Reports to: Business Administration Office (All Campuses)

Hours: Full Time

Summary of Role:

The Culinary Chef oversees all food service operations across Elizabeth Baptist Church, supporting church events, funerals, Sunday breakfast, staff meals, and community outreach initiatives—including A Taste of Grace Food Truck. This role manages kitchen operations, culinary staff and volunteers, food safety compliance, menu planning, and vendor relationships to ensure excellence, efficiency, and a high-quality experience for members, guests, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Production & Event Support

  • Prepare and serve meals for churchwide events, funerals, repasts, Sunday breakfast, staff gatherings, and ministry programs.
  • Plan menus in collaboration with ministry leaders and event coordinators.
  • Produce balanced, high-quality meals with professional presentation.
  • Create event sheets, duty rosters, and setup plans as needed.
  • Address and resolve food quality or service concerns quickly and professionally.

Community Outreach & Food Truck Operations

  • Ensure the food truck is properly stocked, safe, and ready for deployment.
  • Support outreach event logistics, serving, and food handling.
  • Determine pricing and menu details for food truck sales, catered ministry events, weddings, celebrations, and non-EBC events.

Culinary Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise culinary staff, Sous Chefs, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrate cooking techniques, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Assign tasks to ensure efficient food preparation and timely service.
  • Engage in ongoing industry training and implement updated trends.

Kitchen Operations, Safety & Compliance

  • Establish and enforce culinary guidelines, safety protocols, and kitchen authorization procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations, including ServSafe requirements.
  • Secure and maintain all required permits and inspection documentation.
  • Oversee cleaning standards, sanitation practices, and equipment maintenance.

Vendor, Caterer & Partner Management

  • Develop and maintain a Preferred Caterers List with validated credentials.
  • Coordinate with external caterers for large or specialty events.
  • Manage food and supply vendors, deliveries, and quality control.

Inventory, Equipment & Supplies

  • Conduct regular assessments of kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Track inventory, reorder points, storage needs, and cost controls.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and rotation of all food items.
  • Recommend purchases, repairs, or equipment upgrades.

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

  • Assist in culinary budget planning, cost forecasting, and financial reviews.
  • Manage food costs, pricing, and vendor records.
  • Maintain required documentation including permits, receipts, inspections, and inventory logs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and provide weekly updates on upcoming needs.

Education & Certifications

  • Associate Degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive culinary or food service leadership experience (high-volume environment strongly preferred).
  • ServSafe certification required (or willingness to obtain immediately).
  • Strong knowledge of large-scale meal preparation, menu planning, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Experience supervising teams and managing volunteers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and event coordination tools.

Work Schedule & Environment:

  • Flexibility is essential as weekly schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and church holidays.
  • Primarily weekdays, with frequent weekend and evening hours depending on the church calendar.
  • Must be available during high-volume seasons such as Christmas, Easter, and special campaigns.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58, $65,000.00 per year
