Sr. Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The individual will work as a member of the research and development team to develop and release new products, improve existing products, and support production of these devices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that new products are released on schedule with robust designs and acceptance testing methodologies that achieve cost objectives.
• Performs stress tests, analyzes data, and prepares reports.
• Prepares preliminary and detailed design drawings and design specifications.
• Participates on cross functional teams as a member and/or project manager.
• Mentor and direct work of junior engineers, designers, and technicians as required.
• Implement process and product changes using existing change control process.
• Supports existing products with problem solving and continuous improvement of cost and quality objectives.
• Manufacturing line support as needed.
• Support other Proteor sites and activities as needed.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and development.
• Medical device experience is preferred.
• Experience with composite design preferred.
• Experience with mechatronic design preferred.
• Experience with hydraulic system design preferred.
• Experience working in an ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 environment.
• FEA experience preferred.
• Established history of taking projects from concept through design, verification and validation, and commercial release.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Strong computer skills including; Solid Works, Catia, ERP software, Microsoft Office
• Proficient in 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks
• Excellent technical writing and report writing abilities
• Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills
• Results oriented, works independently, and manages multiple projects simultaneously
• Problem Solving
