Job Summary:
The Facilities Service Worker ensures safe and healthy conditions by maintaining cleanliness in public and private spaces to employer standards.
Experience, Education, and Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bloodborne pathogen certification within three months of employment
- Experience using window squeegees and vacuums (wet and dry)
- CJIS clearance within the first month of employment
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- One to three (1-3) years of custodial experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to operate simple machines and tools
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills
- Familiarity with standardized work routines
- Knowledge of basic office procedures
- Understanding of customer service principles
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and travel between locations
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Essential Functions:
Facility Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Clean floors and rooms, including mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming
- Clean restrooms and replace supplies
- Vacuum areas and empty trash receptacles
- Clean windows and extract carpets as needed
- Strip and wash floors regularly
Equipment, Supplies, & Work Areas:
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ensure sidewalks and entrances are safe
- Set up meeting spaces and assist with office moves
Safety & Compliance:
- Respond to spills and report repair needs
- Use CityWorks for work order reporting
- Follow routines and adjust as needed
Customer Service & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with staff
- Demonstrate excellent customer service
- Support team members to ensure service quality
Administrative Support:
- Schedule cleaning and maintain documentation
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Travel:
Category A-Standard Local Travel: Occasional local travel within the County.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work Environment:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors across various facilities, including office buildings, warehouses, outdoor areas, rooftops, and confined spaces.
- Work may involve proximity to sensitive or secure areas, including access control points, server rooms, and alarmed facilities.
- Outdoor work may involve exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- The position may require working on or near equipment that generates moderate to loud noise, vibrations, dust, or fumes.
- Work may involve exposure to loud noise, vibrations, odors, hazardous chemicals, and uneven or slippery surfaces
- May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as part of on-call rotations.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility: Ability to move frequently throughout facilities, including walking, standing, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights when necessary and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally, with assistance as necessary.
- Endurance: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various environments, including noisy, dusty, or hot/cold conditions, while maintaining focus on safety and quality.
- Dexterity: Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination including safely operating hand and power tools.
- Flexibility: Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead and below waist level, and maintain awkward positions when performing work tasks.
- Vision and Hearing: Ability to perform tasks that require visual acuity including distinguishing colors, sounds, and visual displays. Hearing ability to perceive verbal instructions, alarms, and equipment sounds in various work environments.
