About Us

Proper Group is a small but fast-growing holding company that currently owns and operates two home-services businesses in the Phoenix area:

  • Proper Build Group
     – Full-service general contractor (remodels, additions, new builds, TI).
  • Essential Cabinets and Flooring
     – Cabinet & flooring supply and installation company.

We're a lean team of about 7, doing real volume and gearing up for serious growth. We move fast, we care about the customer experience, and we're building out real systems so the businesses can scale beyond the owner.

Role Overview

We're looking for an
Integrator
 – the person who partners directly with the Founder to turn vision into reality.

In EOS terms: the Founder is the
Visionary
; this role is the
Integrator
.

You will own the
day-to-day running of the businesses
(operations, scheduling, delivery, and internal coordination) and help align
sales, marketing, and operations
so that what we sell, we can deliver profitably and predictably.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a small company – you'll both
build the machine
 and
run it
.1. Company Leadership & Execution

  • Work directly with the Founder to translate high-level goals into clear quarterly, monthly, and weekly priorities for the team.
  • Run the
    weekly leadership / ops meeting
: review numbers, projects, issues, and commitments.
  • Hold people accountable to agreed goals, deadlines, and standards – with a mix of support and firmness.
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively fix them (process, people, or tools).

  • Operations & Delivery (GC + Cabinets/Flooring)

  • Own the full
    job lifecycle
     for both businesses:

  • Lead/Contract → Handoff → Scheduling → Execution → Closeout.
  • Oversee:
  • Job scoping handoffs from sales/estimating.
  • Master scheduling of jobs, subs/crews, and installs.
  • Material ordering, tracking, and staging.
  • Quality of execution, punch-list completion, and customer signoff.
  • Make sure every active job has:
  • A clear scope, dates, responsible owner, and next actions.
  • Updated status in our project/ops system.
  • Drive continuous improvement:
  • When problems repeat (missing items, mismeasures, scheduling chaos, etc.), you
    change the system
, not just put out the fire.

  • Systems, Process, and Tools

  • Build and maintain
    simple, usable SOPs
     and checklists for:

  • Sales → ops handoff
  • Pre-construction / pre-install planning
  • Job start and site-prep standards
  • Change orders
  • Job closeout and customer follow-up
  • Own our operations tools (job boards, CRM/project software, simple dashboards):
  • Ensure data is accurate, statuses are current, and everyone lives in the system.
  • Implement light metrics / scorecards (weekly KPIs) so performance is visible and actionable.

  • People, Vendors, and Culture

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for:

  • Office/admin staff
  • Coordinators / schedulers
  • Warehouse/logistics (if applicable)
  • Manage relationships with
    subs, installers, and vendors
    :
  • Clear scopes and expectations.
  • Scheduling discipline (show up when booked).
  • Jobsite standards and communication.
  • Help recruit, onboard, and ramp key roles as we grow.
  • Reinforce a culture of:
  • Ownership
  • Communication
  • "Do what we said we'd do for the customer"

  • Marketing & Sales Alignment

  • Maintain a simple, visible
    pipeline view
    : leads → estimates → contracts → scheduled jobs.

  • Make sure
new leads are handled quickly and consistently
     by the team.
  • Work with the Founder and any marketing support to:
  • Align campaigns and offers with what operations can realistically deliver.
  • Focus on the most profitable/strategic job types.
  • Close the loop from ops back to sales/marketing:
  • Feedback on lead quality, scope issues, pricing problems, and ideal customer profiles.
  • Support basic sales process discipline:
  • Standard intake questions, follow-up on open estimates, and handoff into ops once closed.

  • Financial & Performance Support

  • Work with the Founder and bookkeeper/accountant to:

  • Ensure job costs are accurately tracked by job.
  • Review
    job gross margin
and help correct patterns that eat profit.
  • Help design and manage a simple
    scorecard
     for:
  • Revenue
  • Gross margin
  • On-time completion
  • Customer reviews/complaints
  • AR / collections on jobs
  • Participate in budgeting and capacity planning for the next quarter and year.

What Success Looks Like

  • The owner is
    out of the operational weeds
and focused on strategy, relationships, and growth.
  • Jobs run smoothly: fewer surprises, more predictable schedules, and strong margins.
  • The team knows the priorities each week and follows through.
  • Sales, marketing, and operations are rowing in the same direction.
  • We have basic but real
    systems
     – and people are actually using them.
  • Customers feel informed and taken care of, and our reputation strengthens.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 4+ years in
    operations, project management, or leadership
in construction, trades, home services, or similar execution-heavy environment.
  • Proven track record of
    running day-to-day
in a small business or division (not just assisting).
  • Comfortable managing projects, people, and vendors at the same time.
  • Strong systems/process mindset – you naturally think in checklists, flows, and root causes.
  • Excellent communication skills with homeowners, field crews, subs, and office staff.
  • Tech-comfortable: project management tools, email/Drive/Office, and basic dashboards.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in
residential remodeling, GC, cabinets, or flooring.
  • Experience in an
    EOS / "Integrator" style
role or similar (GM, DOO, COO in a small business).
  • Experience helping grow revenue while building structure at the same time.

Personal Traits

  • You're a
    builder of systems
    , not just a firefighter.
  • You like
    owning outcomes
    , not just tasks.
  • You are a leader
  • You're calm, direct, and don't avoid hard conversations.
  • You enjoy partnering with a strong Visionary and turning ideas into clear, actionable plans.
  • You get satisfaction from taking a messy situation and making it run smoothly.
