We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef in Toronto to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef, overseeing kitchen operations, and ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards.
Duties
Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and daily kitchen operations. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient food preparation and presentation. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, including proper food handling techniques. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste. Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes that meet customer expectations. Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned. Help manage kitchen schedules and staff assignments to optimize workflow during busy service periods. Address any issues that arise in the kitchen promptly and effectively. Qualifications
Proven experience as a cook or chef in a restaurant or food service setting. Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food handling, and safety regulations. Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate team members effectively. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with other kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
