Position Overview:
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Line Cooks to join our team at the Flavor Hills Durham location. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to the restaurant's standards, ensuring that every meal served meets our guests' expectations. This role requires precision, speed, and a commitment to culinary excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Station Operations: Set up and maintain the stations,(Fry, Saute, Grill, & Garnish stations) ensuring all equipment and utensils are clean and in proper working condition. Cook meats, seafood, and vegetables according to recipe specifications.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items as ordered, ensuring proper cooking techniques, correct food safe temperature standards for proteins, and presentation. Follow recipes and portion control standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients used and the finished product to ensure consistency and high standards. Adjust seasoning and ingredients as necessary.
  • Timing & Efficiency: Manage multiple orders simultaneously, prioritizing and coordinating with other kitchen stations to ensure timely service.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies, including proper handling of food, maintaining a clean work environment, and following food safety guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in tracking and managing grill station inventory, ensuring adequate supply of ingredients and notifying management of any shortages.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service. Communicate effectively with the culinary team and front-of-house staff.
  • Station Cleanup: Properly clean and sanitize your station and equipment at the end of each shift, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary Skills: Proficiency in cooking techniques and equipment usage is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow recipes closely and present food attractively.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage time effectively during peak hours.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Physical Stamina: Capacity to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Line Cook or similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Technique: Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and temperature controls for a variety of proteins and vegetables.
  • Efficiency: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Food Safety: Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Knife Skills: Excellent knife skills and proficiency in kitchen techniques.
  • Attentiveness: Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Positivity: Positive attitude and a passion for culinary excellence.
  • Emotional Intelligence: The ability to recognize, understand, and manage your own and others' emotions
  • Accountability: The ability to report to scheduled shifts in the kitchen on time, in uniform, ready to execute daily tasks.
