Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage advanced Windows and Linux server solutions, including virtualized and cloud environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Azure).
  • Lead and participate in complex IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, deployments, and automation initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines for system provisioning and application deployment.
  • Design, implement, and support custom scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues, providing third-level escalation support.
  • Administer and optimize enterprise storage (SAN, NAS), and backup solutions.
  • Monitor system performance, security, and availability; proactively identify and address bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior administrators and engineers.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends; recommend and implement innovative solutions.
  • Participate in change management, incident response, and compliance processes, ensuring adherence to ITIL best practices and company policies.
  • Provide 24x7 support as needed; participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents outside normal business hours.

KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and inspire junior team members.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise storage, virtualization, backup, and networking concepts.
  • In-depth understanding of IT security principles, including risk assessment, vulnerability management, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong, proactive organizational skills and attention to detail.

Academic Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or directly related field or equivalent work experience usually obtained in 7-8 years' directly related experience.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Linux or Windows Systems Administrator/Engineer in an Enterprise Data Center environment.
  • Experience with web server environments (IIS, Apache).
  • Experience and understanding of DNS.
  • Experience with Enterprise applications, including Microsoft 365, JIRA, Monitoring Solutions (SAAS vs. on premise).
  • Experience with Database technologies (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, others).
  • Experience with scripting languages (PHP, Perl, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience implementing and supporting SCADA, physical security and similar applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to move equipment and other hardware up to 50 lbs.
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Ascend / Descend a ladder and perform duties atop a raised platform.
  • Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.
  • Perform work during US business hours and time zones.

Work Conditions & Other Requirements

  • Remote work with extensive daily computer usage.
  • Occasional travel to data centers or other locations as required.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
  • Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • All work must adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $131,000 - $157,000.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
